Hair of the Dog
Elizabethton, TN 37643 ![]() (423) 543-5743 We can assist you with grooming. Reviews ![]() By Pam C. from Elizabethton, TN Posted May 9, 2012 The hair of the dog is an excellent place to take your dog. I have always receive wonderful service. My furbabies are given such wonderful treatment there. They are loved and made so comfortable. Recently my 18 y/o miniature Schnauzer has taken ill and I will have to let her go. Kerrie has been so understanding of her condition and has given her extra special care for her condition. I don't know if this will all post but I want to share what is going on with Gracee. It is helping me to share. Maybe you have gone throught the same thing. :-( I have some VERY SAD NEWS to share with all my friends here. My heart is broken. But the time has arrived. As I write this my little furbaby, Gracee, is in a lot of pain. The vet has doubled her pain meds. I write this message in tears and much sadness to tell all of you, I have made the decision that she is ready to go. Although I wish I could keep her for 18 more years that she has lived already. That would be horribly selfish of me. It really hurts me but it hurts her more. It is time to let go. Like I said she is 18 y/o and has been loved very much. And has given that much MORE LOVE BACK. There is a mass in her abdomen, on her little backbone you can feel every disc and next to her precious little Schnauzer docked tail you can feel her hip bones. Her little sides are sunk in. She keeps going from one room to the other. She may sense something. She is nearly blind with catarats, she can't hear and I have a feeling she can't smell. And she has lost several of her teeth. If she is up to it, tonight I'm going to share with her my and her favorite treat. We love popcorn. So that's the best thing I guess I can think of to give for her enjoyment before she crosses the Rainbow Bridge to wait for me. I'm going to do something special for her and me at the vets before I let her go. I will share it with you later. I might be something you might want to share with your furbabies passing. I guess that is all I can tell you right now. She is going to be cremated and my husband and I have already selected her urn. It is a beautiful ceramic one with little dog foot prints on it. We are going to bury her in an airtight container next to her sister, Sheba. Well, I'm going to sign off now. I may gather Gracee up and take a nap with her since the vet increase her pain meds.
