Tick and Flea Remedies For Your Pet

Fleas and ticks can prove to be a very big issue among cats and dogs. If you know the proper ways to get rid of them, and then prevent further infestation then you are ahead of the game. Make sure that you know how to solve the issue if you are ever faced with it. The first thing that you need to do is be able to spot the problem. Usually fleas are easy to spot. You will find that your pet scratches often, and then you can look on their skin to see if you see the fleas wondering around. If so, then you need to treat them quickly. Here are some ideas that are specific to dogs and cats.

Prevention and Treatment for Dogs

One of the best ways to treat and prevent fleas on your dog is to talk to your vet about products that you can put on their skin to help kill the fleas. There are certain medications that you will put on them on a monthly basis that will help to keep the fleas gone. If they have fleas already, it will also kill them. You have to keep up with this method, because if you stop it suddenly then you will find the fleas can come right back.

Another great flea solution is by getting them a flea dip on a regular basis. Talk to your veterinarian about medicated baths. Most clinics offer this as a way to get rid of fleas. While it is only temporary, it is a great way to get rid of the fleas if they are already there. Then you can move on to other treatment options if necessary. Flea and Tick Pet Remedies

Once you have gotten rid of fleas, you also need to wash all of their bedding. These pesky bugs can live in their beds and blankets and can continue to come back time and time again if you are not careful. This is something that you must keep in mind.

Prevention and Treatment for Cats

Cats require a bit different care when it comes to flea and tick prevention. One of the most common ways to get rid of fleas and prevent them from coming back is to use a flea collar. Most cats can wear them comfortably, and they tend to work well. One thing that some pet owners complain about when it comes to these collars is their smell. You can find some that do not have as strong of a smell, but when you think about it the smell is not nearly as bad as a flea infestation.

Another great way to get rid of fleas in cats is by giving them a pill that you can get from your vet. There is a certain type of medication that will cause all of the fleas to literally drop dead. This is by prescription only, but if you notice a lot of fleas and have trouble getting rid of them it may be a great option.
